Key Biscayne Half Marathon

The Key Biscayne Half Marathon at Crandon Park is designed to take runners over a spectacular and naturally scenic course in one of Florida’s most beautiful cities. The 13.1 mile route will start and end at Crandon Park. Runners will run along the Rickenbacker Causeway surrounded by lush tropical landscapes and superior ocean views. At the midway point of the course you will experience the William B. Powell Bridge which will present a vertical challenge, but the views of downtown Miami and Biscayne Bay that it provides will be what takes your breath away. Once back to Crandon you will run through the Old Zoo and finish along the Crandon Beach Boardwalk.

Time is running out to register for the 2012 Publix Fort Lauderdale A1A Marathon & Half Marathon!

2012 Publix Fort Lauderdale A1A Weekend

Thank you to everyone who has already registered for the 2012 Publix Fort Lauderdale A1A Marathon & Half Marathon Presented by ConAgra Foods! We have many repeat customers, along with lots of new people who have discovered our hidden jewel of an event here in sunny South Florida! For those of you still out there waiting until the last minute, this is just a reminder that online registration will be closing in one week at 8am, Wednesday Feb. 15th. Don’t forget about the Healthy Choice 5K as well! Online registration will be closing shortly! Walk Up registration will be available for the 5K starting at 6am in Birch State Park.

Walk Up Registration will also be available for the Marathon & Half Marathon events at the Publix Health & Fitness Expo. VIP Parking is Available at the Finish Line this year!

We are happy to report the construction that has taken place in our Finish Line parking lot was completed a few months ago! This year we will have use of the entire parking lot. Therefore we are able to once again offer VIP Parking at the Finish Line! Parking passes will be will sold at the Registration table in the expo for $20 cash. VIP parking spots will be limited to 200 cars on a first come, first served basis. The parking lot will be open on race morning beginning at 4:30am. There will be free shuttle buses available to take you to the Start.

Sports Authority & ConAgra Food Drive benefiting the Broward Salvation Army!

We need your help! Presently there is a food drive taking place in all South Florida Sports Authority locations. If you are shopping for any last minute race needs at Sports Authority, it would be greatly appreciated if you could donate a few items of non-perishable food. There are bins located in the front of each store location. All of the food donated will benefit the Broward County Salvation Army. We will also be accepting food donations at the ConAgra Foods booth at our Expo. If each person were to donate one food item we can really make a difference in helping to feed the hungry in South Florida.

2012 Publix Fort Lauderdale A1A Weekend

Congratulations to any of our runners that participated in the ING Miami Marathon Weekend! The next race in the South Florida running schedule is ours…the Publix Fort Lauderdale A1A Marathon & Half Marathon!! Online registration will be closing two weeks from today on Wednesday, Feb. 15th at 8am. As we have been communicating all along, our numbers are creeping towards the race cap. At the current pace of the signups we should reach our race cap by the time online registration closes. Make sure to secure your spot in the Marathon or Half Marathon soon!

Opportunity to Transfer your registration to the 2013 event

Due to the popular demand for this year’s event weekend we are willing to put it out there and let people Transfer to the 2013 event weekend. Please note that there is a $20 fee to transfer, and we do not offer refunds. Below are the steps the you need to take to transfer:

1.) Email us through the wesbite and let us know that you would like to transfer
2.) Download and print the Transfer Request Form here.
3.) Mail the Transfer Request form ASAP; it must be delivered to us by Friday, Feb. 10th. After this date there are no more transfers allowed.

This is a final reminder about the upcoming price increase for the 2012 Publix Fort Lauderdale A1A Marathon & Half Marathon scheduled for 8am on Tuesday, November 22nd. If you register before that time you will be saving $10. There will be two more price increases over the coming months before online registration closes.

The 26.2-mile course is one of the fastest and scenic in the state. Because it is certified, it is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon. The starting line is in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale. The start and staging area is in the front of the Museum of Discovery and Science on Himmarshee Street (Southwest Second Street), allowing for greater starting line accessibility and ample parking at several area garages.

Athletes run past the Broward County Performing Arts Center, New River and Riverwalk before heading to Andrews Avenue, where they will turn right and head toward the Andrews Avenue Bridge before a quick left onto Las Olas Boulevard.

With the perfect setting of ocean breezes, palm trees and one of the most famous roads in America, the Fort Lauderdale A1A Marathon is Broward County’s first certified marathon. Athletes from throughout South Florida, more than 40 states and 12 foreign countries compete annually in what has become the new signature event for the coastal area.

The marathon and half marathon was started by Exclusive Sports Marketing, producers of the event, in 2006. It is held each year in February on President’s Day Weekend.
